3 Ways To Spice Up Boring Meals

It’s true that nothing ruins your mood more than when you find out there’s something boring cooked for lunch or dinner. However, it's not cheat day, so you have to eat your greens and gulp down your dals. But what if we told you that there was an easy way to spice up a plain meal and add some excitement to it without making it unhealthy?

It’s just a one word solution: pickles.

Here are 3 ways you can use pickles to add some life to your food and make a bland meal a little more happening!

  1. In sandwiches- This may sound weird to you right now, but it can be a total game-changer if you’re willing to try it. Use your favourite flavour of achaar as a layer in a sandwich along with some chutney and your choice of veggies. The balance between the sweet and sour will add a new dimension to your sandwich and give it a little ‘desi’ twist to spice it up.

  2. With idlis- The quintessential idli and coconut chutney combo is close to our hearts too, but isn’t it time to switch things up and try something new? Replace your tomato and coconut chutneys with a new type of achaar (try Stuffed Red Chilli Pickle or Aam Ka Achaar if you’re looking for something totally whacko!). The blend of the soft, fluffy idlis with a tangy hit is like a treat for your taste buds, and will only leave you wanting more.

  3. Mixed in khichdi- The customary ‘sick-food’ in all Indian households, khichdi has a reputation of being too bland for a normal day. But you can rid khichdi of this label by giving it a new flavour profile altogether. The Mixed Achaar is the perfect choice, all you need to do is add a little to your dish and mix well to get the perfect blend of tangy, spicy, and healthy! Who knows, maybe this “achaari khichdi” does in fact become a household favourite?
